Güne Kore merkezli Jeju Air şirketine ait JJA2216 sefer sayılı Bangkok – Muan Havalimanı seferini yapan HL8088 tescilli Boeing 737-8AS tipi uçak inişi sırasında henüz bilinmeyen bir nedenden dolayı iniş takımları olmadan inişini yaptı. İnişi sonrası duramayan uçak pist sonunda bulunan bir engele çarparak yanmaya başladı.

Uçakta 173 kişinin bulunduğu ve ilk belirlemelere göre 124 kişinin hayatını kaybettiği öğrenildi.

Öte yandan servis edilen görüntülerde uçağın inişinden hemen önce sol motorunda patlamalar meydana geldiği görülmekte.
